So where to start?...well, a massive congratulations to those who ran the fastest 5k of their lives today, including Christine Taylor and Jo Negus! Also to Kieran O'Hara who not only knocked off two seconds from his previous lifetime PB of 16:39 set at Barking parkrun this March, but also sealed off a three in a row hat trick of Fly 5k wins. If anyone else managed a lifetime PB, well done you too!

There were 38 personal best Fly 5ks, and 18 runners joined us for the first time today.

Five age category records were broken at our 25th event. Well done to Phillip Young (VM45-49) and Koji Miyazaki (VM55-59) both of Aldershot, Farnham & District, and to Claudine Benstead (VW60-64) and to Patricia Godfrey (VW70-74) who time and again keep breaking their own records. Also to Katie Tse who is the name we were looking for in that long vacant SW18-19 category!

It's not just about the PBs and records though, and it's great to have others join us walking or just doing whatever feels comfortable. Even if injury or other reasons prevent running right now it doesn't mean we can't get out in the fresh air and enjoy the stroll!

I should also mention that we seem to have a growing dog fraternity - not sure we're quite ready for a separate category but well done for getting your owners round in one piece!! And whilst we're on animals, thanks Richard Olney for bringing the Fly 5k mascot out of hibernation (our flying pig, for those not familiar!)

Whether you ran fast and hard, cruised around, jogged, walked or a bit of all those things, I hope you had fun today and enjoyed taking part in Fly 5k.

On to our podium now, and it was hotly contested at the front for the men's places with 7 runners under 18 minutes, including Kieran O'Hara (Havering AC), with 16:37 giving him the lead into first place, followed up by Phillip Young and Paul Whear in 2nd and 3rd place.

The seemingly unstoppable Lesley Locks (Aldershot, Farnham & District) scored another win with 17:57, the third fastest ever women's time in Fly 5k. Lesley was followed by Fiona de Mauny (Herne Hill Harriers) running a great first Fly 5k, just one second ahead of Emma Stepto in third.

In the age graded placings it was Claudine Benstead once again who led the way, with her age category record earning her 93.44%, creeping ever closer to Darren Deed's Fly 5k age grade record of 93.92%.

On to our weekly honours list... congratulations to the following for earning their 20th Fly 5k today!

Matthew BEDFORD Sharon DAVIDSON Jon ELMER Martin HALLING Brian JUDKINS Cathy LEAHY Martin MEDFORTH Lucy O'CONNOR Roger SANT Brian YATES

Also to these people who ran their 10th Fly 5k:

Pete BARBER Gemma CARRUTHERS Gavin CLIFTON Helen GIFFEN Phyllida JONES Zelah MORRALL Seb ROWE

And as we celebrate our 25th event it feels only right to say a big well done to our Ever Presents! These nine people have taken part in all 25 Fly 5ks and continue to inspire, whatever the weather (or hangover) tries to do to stop them!

Steve BOWRAN Colin BRAYBROOK Fergus DALTON Graham HARPER Pat HIGGINS Paul HOLGATE Donna IRWIN Jenny MAGINLEY Andrew MCKILLOP

I'll leave you with our podium, a final well done, and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

PS. Next week is our 8th inter cub competition as well as the usual Fly 5k. Hope you can join us.

Maybe it's because I've been out of the running game myself now for a little while, but when Dani's post came asking for people to submit three words that summed up Fly 5k for them, the word "running"

Dear Fly 5kers, It is with a heavy heart but with very fond memories and lots of new found friends, that today we announce that Fly 5k, the weekly event as we know it, will be coming to a close at our

The hungover Fly 5k after the hosts night out! We enjoyed a beer (or two) and cracked open a really horrible old bottle of Cava, which I blame for the submission form problem! Thanks for all your pati
