Results from Event #33, 2nd January 2021

After an epic New Years Day Special yesterday I did, in the early part of this morning, wonder how many people would fancy another Fly 5k so soon. Well it seems like lots of us did!

We had 182 runners in total, which included 15 first timers, and 22 Fly 5k PBs were won today.

Digging into that a little, and Lia Stubbings managed to break 30 minutes for the first time in her life on her first ever Fly 5k with 29:40! Liam Casson smashed through the 19 minute barrier with 18:54 for his PB. Katie Swainsbury of Athena St Albans got a lifetime PB of 25:27, and Pat Higgins, who's been a part of all 33 Fly 5k events, got a PB today too with his dog Sally as pacemaker!

As ever it's been a fantastic mix not just of those types of success, but also just getting out there and enjoying the outdoors and a run, jog or walk, and sharing it with the rest of us. Best wishes to those currently injured or unable to run, of which there seem to be a few right now - rest up well!

The full results are on the website at www.runfly5k.com/latest-results (best viewed on a laptop/desktop). The individual results pages on the website will be updated shortly.

Congratulations to everyone on our podiums today, and a particular well done to Pamela Whitter (VW60-64) who joined us for the first time today from Stragglers Running Club, based in South West London. Pamela's time of 20:47 puts her right up near the top of our best ever age graded scores with over 90%!

Maybe it's because I've been out of the running game myself now for a little while, but when Dani's post came asking for people to submit three words that summed up Fly 5k for them, the word "running"

Dear Fly 5kers, It is with a heavy heart but with very fond memories and lots of new found friends, that today we announce that Fly 5k, the weekly event as we know it, will be coming to a close at our

The hungover Fly 5k after the hosts night out! We enjoyed a beer (or two) and cracked open a really horrible old bottle of Cava, which I blame for the submission form problem! Thanks for all your pati
